Description

Phosphatidylserine (PS – Phosphatidyl Serine) is a phospholipid and an important building block of cell membranes in the body and especially in the brain. It plays a key role in various cellular functions.

Although the body is capable of making (synthesizing) phosphatidylserine, the body obtains most of its phosphatidylserine from food. Phosphatidylserine is present in very small amounts in many foods. However, the phosphatidylserine in the body does not contain the same fatty acids as the phosphatidylserine that comes from food, and deficiencies are common in the Western diet.
